Cassandra Vohs-Demann's musical style builds on the traditions of Melissa Etheridge, Sheryl Crow and Sarah McLachlan,
but is uniquely her own. Cassandra’s original songs focus on love, loss, self-reflection, healing and dreams and are
inspired by personal experiences and a true desire to help others through music. Her high energy performances and inspiring
vocals connect to the audience straight from the heart. Cassandra’s love of singing came at an early age while growing
up on a farm. "I used music as an escape. Growing up with 5 brothers and sisters, it was the only thing I had that I
could truly call my own. It was my connection to my heart" Cassandra is the owner of A Place to Shine Music, where for
19 years she has been teaching, performing, writing and producing music. Her motto: "Believe in what is possible..."
It is her passion and soul’s work to share music, inspire growth and help artists find their true voice. After receiving
a degree in Music Education and vocal performance from the University of Illinois in 1991, Cassandra continued her professional
training in opera and acting for 7 years in Chicago where she performed with the Grant Park Symphony, The New Organization
for Vocal Artistry and was an anthem soloist for the Chicago Bulls. In addition, she has extensive experience both as an actress,
director and session vocalist.

In 1999, Cassandra changed her musical direction and became a rock/pop/jazz
singer and began focusing more on writing and performing her own original music. After 20 years in the music industry, she
decided to pursue a lifelong dream of recording a fully produced original CD. "Here
I Am” was released in October 2010. She was honored to work with an incredible friend and producer named John
Hegner at Starbell Hatchery Studio who embraced her project and was an inspiration to work with. She is also extremely grateful
for the incredible musicians who worked on the CD including sought after New York guitarist, Peter Calo, who is best known
for his work with Carly Simon.
Currently, Cassandra performs solo and with her band Cassandra and the
Gravel Road Band touring all over the Midwest. She has performed in Illinois, Wisconsin, Georgia, Florida, Minnesota,
Washington State, Tennessee, Colorado, Washington D.C and New Orleans. “I feel blessed to be able to live
my passion every day!”
Cassandra holds studio hours at the Lakeside
Legacy Arts Park at the Dole Mansion in Crystal Lake, IL. She lives in Marengo, IL with her husband Phil.
